Abstract
The Moroccan
market has strong growth potential. Projected growth
over the next 5 to 10 years is 3 million new fixed
subscribers, 9 million new mobile subscribers and
10-11 million new broadband subscribers. There is
a steady low inflation rate. The Moroccan economy
has grown at more than 3 percent in each of the last
five years.
According to our estimates, in 2015 the number of
broadband subscribers will rise to over 10 million
with a CAGR of 40 percent.
The main access technologies is xDSL but there is
a growing need for other access technologies such
as FWA solutions in Morocco, especially as an effective
means for resolving the "last mile" issue.
Morocco outlines telecommunications as the country's
most strategic sector. The aim to expand the network
coverage to 80% of the population, develop the teledensity,
bring new technologies within education, administration
and the private sector, e-commerce and government
on-line offer excellent opportunities to U.S. firms
to provide equipment in a wide range of areas, including
but not limited to ADSL, fixed-line and mobile networks
as well as solutions.
